“Portraits of Concession” is inspired by the concept of complete spiritual surrender.

From the start of this process I found that the figures needed to face out of the canvas, beyond my individual consciousness, toward a place that I relate intimately with, a place that I long for and work for.

I cannot illustrate or name this place or build a bridge towards it from the canvas – all I can do is point to it.

These pieces represent a time of collaborative exploration into the nature of the ego and the idea of its death.

Ahead of it’s time.. Not for sale

The working title for this work was “Man, Delusion, God”

The only constant to me was the meaning each colour represented in each drawing. Red was unit consciousness, mankind. More specifically, on reflection, red represented me and my human experience so far. Blue was the trials and perceptions of so called ‘reality’ through which I could not experience the divine or the spiritual. White was that spiritual experience, that spiritual reality I longed for. There are 82 in total.
